Parish Council of Ministries
Purpose
1. The Parish Council of Ministries Exists to: a. Live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world today
b. Assist the pastor in discerning the needs of the total faith community
c. Imagine the most effective ways to respond to those needs
d. Serve as a listening body for the voice of our faith community
2. Our Model of Service: a. To meet every other month for prayer, dialogue, and discernment
b. To plan and follow a specific agenda for each meeting
c. To read and reflect on our Mission Statement, Internal and External Goals at every meeting
d. To communicate regularly with the chairpersons of our parish ministries
e. To meet within a relaxed but focused format
3. Virtues and Qualities of a Council Member: a. Honest (In sharing)
b. Courtesy (Toward one another and fellow parishioners and ideas)
c. Integrity (Avoiding gossip and hearsay and respecting appropriate confidentiality)
d. Fidelity (Commitment, first, to one's faith and to Council meetings and responsibilities)
e. Prudence (Use standard, faith-based, procedures for communication)
4. The Role of the Council Facilitator: a. Traditionally referred to as "President" or "Chairperson"
b. Meets with the Pastor to set the agenda for each meeting
c. Facilitates all Council meetings
